THE PARTY LIST - On Delay!

I am on my third computer since last Friday. I am installing programs and hope to have everything clear to go by later this afternoon.

Due to the delay there will not be any links this week. Please refer to last week for artists links.
Thank you for your patience.

REVIEW WEDNESDAY - Lost Treasures of Arkansas's Waterways - W. C. Jameson

LOST TREASURES OF ARKANSAS'S WATERWAYS is another installment in the lost treasure books by W. C. Jameson. You can see a list of his books HERE.  Over the years I have read many of them. Every time I have settled in for the evening with one, I've found myself transported to another time and place - a place where life was yours for the taking if you knew where to look. I've traveled from coast to coast throughout history via Mr. Jameson's books. Each journey left a nagging desire to find the treasures that have eluded others grasp. This latest link in the series brought me closer to home and the desire to find that raw silver of Moccasin Creek Valley or the gold suspected to be buried along the White River.

As a treasure hunter himself, W. C. Jameson's mission is all about the quest. He meshes history and legend together. He has spent countless hours reading through microfilm, documentation and published sources to insure the information he provides is correct. But I think his greatest hunt in the research process is when he can sit and talk with people who have heard the stories from previous generations of their own families... people who were there.
LOST TREASURES OF ARKANSAS'S WATERWAYS is more than a compilation of stories. Like all of his books previous, this one is a collection of stories about history and adventure and dreams.

I'm giving LOST TREASURES OF  ARKANSAS'S WATERWAYS:

TURNTABLE TUESDAY - Loud - Mark Chapman

Lookin' For A Party kicks off the new album by Mark Chapman, living up to the album's title - LOUD. For the most part, that is not a bad thing. LOUD is the party album I feel has been simmering inside Mark for a long time. The tunes on this CD are directed at catching the ear of contemporary country radio.

Subsequent tunes such as Life Out On the Farm (a track all radio stations should be playing), Friday Night 'Round Here, 11:11, Big Time, You're Gonna Have That and Paradise all showcase the more contemporary vein Mark is opening up these days.

Where a majority of LOUD is meant to move Mark Chapman forward, he did not foresake the solid ballads I love most about his music. This Road I'm On, Uphill Both Ways are the story songs we can all identify with.

Overall, I think Mark accomplished what he set out to showcase in LOUD.  With the exception of Big Time, which he produced in Nashville with producer, Michael Knox, Mark has written, produced and mixed LOUD together entirely on his own at home in southwest Missouri. The quality speaks to the understanding of how a song should sound and being in control of the product.  While my preferences always lean towards a solid country song or ballad, I still appreciate an artist following their heart. That's where the best music comes from and Mark Chapman never loses sight of that as he pens lyrics and produces what should be hit after hit. Mark Chapman belongs on the radio and in the big time.

I'm tipping my hat:
 .5

THE PARTY LIST - On Hiatus

Blame it on the heat or whatever.. I just have not been feeling well the past couple of weeks. Back to back travel last week really zapped my energy so I am taking this week off from The Party List. I just do not have the stamina for an 8 hour blog post followed by 3 hours of promos.

Bob is into his final week home before he goes back out on the boat. Most of you know that he is the #1 priority in my life and when he's home I slack on the work front to spend time with him. Time is precious. We will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this month - separately as he will be on the river and I will be home.

The unexpected death of Wade Stockton (The Scott Taylor Band fiddleplayer) two weeks ago, followed by the passing of multiple talents from Nashville in the past week bring that 'time is precious' thing into focus.

So I will spend these few days with Bob, try to recoup my energy and be back next week with CD reviews from AJ Guel and Mark Chapman Band as well as a new book review by Texas author W. C. Jameson.

Country Blessing!
Kelly
